ENMRWS Intake Facility

The first completed section of the ENMRWS was the Raw Water Intake Facility, located on the south shore of Ute Reservoir. In March 2011, the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission (NM ISC) granted a perpetual easement to the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority (ENMWUA) for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Intake Facility.

Construction began in 2012 and was completed in 2016. The Intake Facility includes 78-inch tee screens that connect to 250 feet of 54-inch welded steel pipe, which is cement-mortar lined and shop-coated. This pipeline was installed using micro tunneling to reach the pump forebay shaft.

The ENMWUA is currently designing the Intake Pump Station that will be constructed above and surrounding the forebay shaft where pumps will pump water into the pipeline.
